The Govt. of India has approved a Project-based strategy for the North East Region under an umbrella scheme by name “North East Region Textile Promotion scheme”. This umbrella scheme will be implemented in the North East Region in addition to the regular schemes of the Ministry. The scheme was approved by the EFC on 8th April, 2013 and CCEA on 7th November, 2013 as North East Region Textile Promotion Scheme (NERTPS) Sericulture projects for Assam

Directorate of Sericulture, Assam has been implementing 4(four) Central Sponsored Scheme under North Eastern Regions Textiles Promotion Scheme (NERTPS):

• Integrated Sericulture Development Project (ISDP)-2015-16 to 2022-23
• Intensive Bivoltine Sericulture Project (IBSDP) -2015-16 to 2022-23
• Establishment New Eri Spun Silk Mill -2019-20 to 2022-23
• Upliftment of Sericulture activities in Aspiration Districts of Assam-2019-20 -2022-23

• Public Works Department, Assam will execute the civil construction works of the ESSM at Bargang, Biswanath district as per decision of PIMC held on 9-9-2021.
• Additional fund required for construction of ESSM building amounting to Rs.3.95 crores has been sanction vide letter No.CSB-37/2/NERTPS/ESSM/2017-18/TS-2 Vol-II, dt.12-8-2022 by Centrals silk Board, Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India.
• Administrative Approval was received vide Letter No.HTS.143/2020/180, dt.23^rd September, 2022.
• Communication has been made with Sr. Environmental Engineer of Pollution Control Board for issue of NOC.
• NOC has been taken for Local Gaon Panchayat vide Letter No. BGP/8/2018-19/1215, dt.11-06-2019
• Sri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Assam had laid the Foundation Stone of the Mill on 29^th January, 2019.
