Produce and supply seedling/saplings of silkworm food plants, silkworm seed cocoon and certified seeds for commercial rearing.
Providing leaves from Collective Mulberry Garden and Eri Concentration Centre to the mulberry and Eri rearers and Som / Soalu food plants for conducting Muga rearing at Muga Village Grazing Reserve.
Providing equipments, inputs etc. to the private farmers, rearers, Reelers, Spinners, weavers.
Provide marketing support through 3 Nos. of Cocoon Bank in the state for gainful value of cocoons.
Create linkage for marketing to export the silk products.
To make efforts to enhance income levels of rearers, reelers, spinners, weavers and other stakeholders for better quality of life.
Provide skill up-grdation training to farmers as well as Officers and officials.
Sericultural Training Institute, Titabar, Jorhat for conducting one year certificate course training to recruit grass root level officers as well as imparting to farmers and departmental officers.
The collection of statistical data from fields for assessment of production and report generation for enhancement of production.
Provide the technical guidance to the farmers, Rearers, Reelers, Silk weavers, and also help to prepare projects.
Assisting the Central Silk Board in development planning for jointly funded schemes.
Assisting and implementing the technology developed by the Central Silk Board to the farmers.
2(Two) Nos. of Technical information centre are functioning in the state to provide technical guidance and to solve the problems of the sericulturist.
Grievances redressed cell is functioning under the Directorate of Sericulture as well as District and Sub-division offices.
